Description
The F SB-series is a next-generation, green-mode
Fairchild Power Switch (FPS™) incorporating Fairchild’s
innovative mW Saver™ tech nology, which dramatic ally
reduces stan dby a nd n o-load power c onsumption,
enabling co nformance to al l w orldwide Sta ndby Mo de
efficiency guidelines. It integr ates an advan ced current-
mode pulse width modulator (PWM) and an avalanche-
rugged 7 00V SenseFET in a sing le p ackage, all owing
auxiliary power desi gns with hi gher stan dby e nergy
efficiency, red uced siz e, imp roved re liability, and lo wer
system cost than previous solutions.
Fairchild Se miconductor’s mWSaver™ technolo gy
offers best-in- class mini mum no-load and light-load
power cons umption. An innovative A x-CAP™ method,
one of the five propri etary mWSaver™ techno logies,
minimizes loss es in the EMI filter stage b y eliminating
the X-cap di scharge resistors while sti ll meeti ng
IEC61010-1 safet y req uirement. mW Saver™ Green
Mode gra dually decreases s witching frequ ency as loa d
decreases to minimize switching losses.
A ne w pr oprietary as ynchronous jitter decr eases EMI
emission a nd built-in s ynchronized sl ope compe nsation
allows st able peak-c urrent-mode co ntrol o ver a wide
range of inpu t voltage. T he propriet ary i nternal lin e
compensation ensures constant output po wer limit over
entire universal line voltage range.
Requiring a m inimum n umber of ext ernal c omponents,
the F SB-series provi des a basic platform that is well
suited for the cost-effectiv e flyback conv erter desig n
with low standby power consumption.
