DESCRIPTION
FEATURES
The A2232 is a stereo audio power amplifier that Advanced DC Volume Control With 2-dB Steps,
drives 3W/channel of continuous RMS power into a
From -40 dB to 20 dB
3Ω load. Advanced DC volume control minimizes
-Fade Mode
external components and allows BTL (speaker)
-Maximum Volume Setting for SE Mode
volume control and SE (headphone) volume control.
-Adjustable SE Volume Control
Notebook and pocket PCs benefit from the integrated Referenced to BTL Volume Control
feature set that minimizes external components 3 W Into 3Ω Speakers
without sacrificing functionality.
Stereo Input MUX
To simplify design, the speaker volume level is Differential Inputs
adjusted by applying a DC voltage to the VOLUME Available in P-TSSOP24 Package
terminal. Likewise, the delta between speaker
volume and headphone volume can be adjusted by
applying a DC voltage to the SEDIFF terminal. To
APPLICATION
avoid an unexpected high volume level through the Notebook PC
headphones, a third terminal, SEMAX, limits the LCD Monitors
headphone volume level when a DC voltage is Pocket PC
applied. Finally, to ensure a smooth transition
between active and shutdown modes, a fade mode
ramps the volume up and down.
TYPICAL APPLICATION
The A2232 is available in P-TSSOP24 package.

NOTE: 0.1μF ceramic capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the IC. For filtering lower-frequency
noise signals, a larger electrolytic capacitor of 10μF or greater should be placed near the audio power
amplifier.
